Beyond Ordinary Goal Setting
If you get up in the morning you have goals whether you realize it or not. Even if it's as simple as:
1. get up
2. get through the day
3. go to bed
But goal setting can be so much more powerful if you know how to set your goals for success. This is a process that is both an art and a science. Setting a goal is more than just picking something you want and going for it. Goals that will provide you with satisfiying achievement must be specific and measurable.
Focus on setting goals that can be measured to provide that satisfaction when you have achieved the change or success that is most important. Saying "I'm going to get back to the weight I was when I was 20" is not specific enough. But saying "I'm going to loose 30 lbs to reach the weight of 120 lbs like I was when I was 20" is. It gives you a measurable goal you can track and succeed at little by little.
Your goals need to challenge you but they still need to be realistic. If the goal seems insurmountable you will defeat yourself before you can even get started. Take baby steps at first and show yourself you can do it, then up the goal and challenge yourself more. Have mini-goals within your ultimate goal. Show yourself, You Can! These mini-goals provide you the success to keep you on the road to your long-term goal.
Be patient. As the old saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day". You didn't get where you are overnight, you're not going to make the trip back overnight either. One things for sure though. If weight-loss is your goal, you can definitely succeed at the loss much faster than the gain. The gain usually happens so slowly you don't even notice it until you wake up one day and look at yourself in the mirror and go, Whoa! What happened!
Now, being specific and measurable with your goals is a powerful strategy, but if you want to take it to the next level you want to focus on the behavior that is going to help you reach your goal.
So now instead of saying, "I'm going to loose 30 lbs." you're saying "I will exercise five hours per week"
By focusing on your behaviors that will lead to the results you are looking for in setting your goals you have added power to your punch.
In the end you have handed yourself the power to succeed, because behavior is something you control. You can control your actions which will provide the vehicle for you to reach your goals.
And finally, you need to share your goals. If you keep your goals a secret, then hidden inside you is the fear that you will not succeed and that fear will beat you.
Hold yourself accountable, do for yourself what you would do for your family and friends if they had a worthy goal they were striving for - Have faith in yourself. Tell yourself you can do this, you will do this, and tell others who you know care about your so they can support you in your goals.
And then just do it. Set your goals to action and create a plan. Write your plan down and set your specific guidelines. Create a dream board. Get out old pictures. Get out that old pair of pants and hang them where you can see them. Leave yourself reminders, encouragements, quotes that uplift you. Stack the deck in your favor and then just do it.

The Best Way to Start Your Blog Right
Once you have decided to start a blog, the first decision to make is what it's going to be about. Starting with something you are passionate about will make it easier to get blogging and stay with it.
Have an idea of a destination, without every really planning to get there. It's all about the journey...sort of like life. And don't feel like you have to get it perfect the first time out.
Before you actually get started sit down and give some thought to the topics you would like to cover. Create an outline of your thoughts that will help create a cohesive picture like a story building; action upon action, thought upon thought, that brings your reader back for more.
Plan to post to your blog every day for at least 7 days. More if you have it in you. That's where your outline comes in handy, because you can keep building on the outline.
Plan keywords for your blog that can be used for anchor text. Anchor text is an active link that when clicked on takes you somewhere else. This is going to be determined by why you are blogging. Are you driving traffic to your website or promoting an affiliate link? The anchor text needs to be the words you are using as keywords for your website and will help your website by giving you back links with your keywords.
Make sure that as you post to your blog you are bookmarking it on social bookmarking sites such as Digg.com, StumbleUpon.com, and Reddit.com. These will help get you traffic from people who use these sites looking for content.
Always incorporate a call to action in the side bar of your blog and within the individual posts when ever possible. Inviting people to look at your website draws their attention and lets them know you have something you feel is worth their time. People will almost always come and take a look. Then it's up to you to give them what they may be looking for.

#1: Never Buy Or Call Generic Leads
Seems pretty self evident, but let me tell you briefly why this is important by sharing a recent experience I had . . .
Not to long ago I was checking out web sites on the net and opted into a few mailing
lists.
This time must have been special because the next 3 days I got about 20 calls from people who couldn't tell me where they got my name, but they ALL somehow knew I was someone interested in starting a business (because I happened across some page and opted in).
The first couple calls were nostalgic and reminded me of the drudgery I once endured, but the 20th call was more than a little annoying. Each person that "bought" me as a lead paid the same price, didn't know what I was really interested in doing, and had to deal with 19 other people calling me trying to get me to buy some web site or scheme.
If you're buying leads all your doing is making life harder for yourself because
you're basically paying to create competition for you, who, if they're selling hot air will quickly shade the mind of your prospect in a not so positive light towards anyone calling them about anything opportunity related.
All you're doing is making life harder for yourself when you do this. So don't.
That brings up the next point . . .
#2: Get Your Own Leads
Another short story to illustrate why:
After picking up "Magnetic Sponsoring" I realized the importance of getting my own leads and set out to do it.
Literally 2 minutes after I generated my first leads, up popped my first new recruit
along with them. I was away at work when it happened, but when I check the time lag between the notification emails for new leads and new sign ups for my company the lag was less than 2 minutes.
There I was after previously having bought thousands of dollars worth of leads and spent countless hours getting rejected by them - to spending $40 on a cheap ad and having people auto recruit themselves into my business.
I'm not a fast learner all the time, but I picked up on this one pretty quick. Knowing that I now had a choice between buying generic leads like the rest of world and
wasting time calling them, compared to getting my own and knowing the results of that, I'm choosing option #2 every time.
But here's why it's so much more powerful get your own leads.
You're the only one that has access to them, so competition is zilch, the expressed
interest in exactly what you had to offer, so you know they're not generic, and MOST important you control the interactions with them thereafter.
Some may join on the spot, but now either following up via e-mail or on the phone with these NON generic leads in a competition vacuum you'll pull in even more results over time.
Now I can't share everything I learned in "Magnetic Sponsoring" but I'll share one more important lesson I've learned and prospered by . . .
#3: Make Money Now No Matter What
In network marketing and the home business arena we're always taught to build the
organization to create a long term annuity and to retail our company's product or
service to earn the everyday bread and butter money that keep our business moving forward.
In a word . . . IMPORTANT!
There are economic concerns involved with every business no matter if it's in the home business arena or not, and this one if of the utmost importance.
Here's why . . .
If you're just starting out money is always going to be more scarce than once you have some momentum going.
It's exceedingly important, at the beginning, that for every dollar you spend you do
anything and everything in your power to put it back in your pocket as soon as possible.
The problem that causes most network marketers to fail early on is running out of cash before there business can pay for itself.
If you're new you're immediate and most important concern is going to be earning your investment back as soon as possible.
The easier you can make it on yourself to do this and provide an avenue for your team members to do the same the faster and the larger your organization will grow.

Forget about it. That's right, set it aside, we'll get back to it. Because first you have to do some thinking.
You may be asking, what do I have to think about?

I was sitting back the other night, just before I turned off the light to turn in for the night, thinking about my past. Sometimes we get so focused on what we're doing in our present to create our future, we forget to look back and learn from where we've been and be thankful for what we have.

Does that make sense?
Content, content, content is King. If you haven't been bloggin, or writing press releases, or doing article marketing, you haven't taken the first step yet. You're still stuck at the starting block. But that is only the beginning.

Social networks are made up of individuals who share a common interest, goal, or value. There are many sites available on the internet where one can actually create their own world that reflects who they are:

These are social networks where people can recreate themselves, build their dreams and become bigger than they really are.
At the end of the day, we are all just people. Some are more creative, more charismatic, affluent, dreamer of BIGGER dreams.
What I've found is that there are a whole lot of wonderful, facinating people out there that I would have never met if it hadn't been for the internet and social networking.
Out of all the social networking opportunities listed above, and there are many more I'm sure, I think my favorite is Ning. Because with Ning you create your own network of people. I know the others do too, but with Ning it's designed to be different.
In MySpace, Facebook and Twitter you just have your one page and that's who you are. In Ning you can creat your own network or join someone elses and in each network you have a page. And you can be someone else in each network, spotlight different parts of who you are.
You could spend all your time working on your social networking sites and wait for people to find you or you can find a Ning site to join and have all your networking right there in your front yard. You don't have to wait for people to find you. The people are all right there, already gathered and ready to learn about you.
In one network I'm a worm farmer, in another I'm a network marketer, in another I support positive affirmation and yet another I'm a mom. They each have a different focus and allow me to express myself in a different way. They allow me to see the many facets of who I am and express each of them from that prospective.
Everyone is promoting social networking as a great way to build your business. I say it's a great way to learn about who you are and what's really important.

I've been asked, what's the single most important thing you should be doing when you are just starting out building a business.
While that is difficult to answer without getting long-winded I would have to say, in my opinion, that blogging is the single most important thing to start with.
Building a successful home based business involves many things that go hand-in-hand. My mentor often says, "people buy from people," and the most successful businesses are those that are built on relationships. Any relationship is built better with communication, through blogging, social networking, and just plain getting out and talking to people.
So with that being said I would start by setting up a blog and getting your content out there. The system is powerful at getting your content out there and noticed by Google. This is key to getting your blog noticed by people looking for the information you have to share.

Get the information down in a blog and access that information again and again - changing the perspective and adding new keywords. Use that content many times while you build your home based business on a budget using free resources.
The next thing I would do is set up a Twitter account to compliment your blog. Twitter is a great free tool that is taking the internet by storm. The best thing about it is its simplicity.
MySpace and Facebook are good too, but there is so much work involved in getting those accounts set up. Twitter is not like that. The account is simple and everyone is using it. Applications are popping up all over to post back and forth between your Twitter account. Even my Ezine.com account is linked to my Twitter.
Social networking is a key component when it comes to linking back to your website. Set up your blog and get to Twittering. Two of the very first things you should be doing to build your best home based business.

When it Comes To Your Best Home Based Business Opportunity -
Recognizing the Value of a Good Team
Who was it that said "No man is an Island"? I will have to look that up, because that is what I'm going to talk about today.
No matter what you do in life, even if it is just to survive, there is a team of people somewhere doing what they need to do to get the job done.

Every team is going to be looking for powerful, confident, focused leadership to provide the path for them to walk in. Provide that and your business will snowball, growing exponentially to a huge organization, creating new leaders who will then breakaway creating their own teams.
Quite simply, those are the steps to growing a successfus home based business that will support you for years to come.

Article marketing is about high quality, original content that promotes you and your business, product or opportunity. It's not about flash, and fancy HTML. Most article writing services allow only minimal use of HTML. However, what little HTML you can use can be to your benefit.
Here are some of the HTML code you can use to get the traffic from your articles.
To make your URL or Website Address clickable, (so when someone clicks on it they go to your website), your code would look like this:
< a href="http://www.YourCompanyName.com/">http://www.YourCompanyName.com< /a> (I had to put a space between the < a and the / a to make the code show up. Take the space out to make the code work.)
That code will make http://www.YourCompanyName.com clickable.

Best Home Based Business Opportunity - How to Close Your Prospect
You're in a conversation with your prospect, you're excited about your business opportunity and you have been very successful with sharing that excitement in a very real way. Your prospect seems genuinely interested in your business opportunity but has yet to make that final decision. He still has to pull out his wallet and make that commitment. So how do you close the sale? Is that person someone you want to close and have as a part of your business team?Part of your home based business opportunity?
The success of top producers comes from them sponsoring top producers themselves. That's why they call it networking, because it's never just one person that produces all the results, it's a team effort. Or at least that's the way it's suppose to work.
So how do you make sure you're closing the right people who are going to be top producers and be a vaulable part of the team? That's what I'm going to share with you here.
There are really only two basic approaches to "closing" a sale. Generally speaking these are "guided" and "voluntary".
A guided close involves person to person contact. You have an answer to every objection, a list of your prospects desires and wishes, along with emotional triggers you have aquired from your previous interviews.
You personally "guide" the prospect down a path that leads to a purchase. Your skill makes it so that the person joins you whether they wanted to or not, because your guidance has lead your prospect to make that decision, to join your home based business opportunity.
The problem with the "guided" close is that the next morning the prospect awakens with buyers remorse, or worse yet makes a half hearted attempt at making the business work and then fails, spreading the negativity of his experience to all those in his sphere of enfluence.
But there is a better way - where a prospect "sells themselves" and makes a decision to purchase based on their own desires. With this approach the prospect is not put on the spot or asked to make a decision directly.
What makes this approach better is based on a bit of psychology - "A person convinced against their will is of the same opinion still."
In a guided sale the motivation is coming from the wrong place. It is usually coming from pressure and triggers that have left the prospect feeling unstable and insecure, afraid that making the wrong decision will cause some kind of loss. There is no logic behind the decision making process and can be counter-productive creating a one time sale situation instead of a commitment that will last for years, which is what is required to build a successful home based business.
Buyers remorse sets in when logic makes it's way to the forefront and the person regrets the decision because the decision was not built on the logical reasons why he should be joining your business.
In the voluntary close the prospect convinces themselves and then makes the purchase when the time is right for them. When they make their own choice by recognizing the true value in joining your business opportunity, they will work harder and stay dedicated because it was their idea.
Now the voluntary approach doesn't mean you're not going to sell your prospect. But you're going to do it indirectly, over time, with your marketing tools, instead of personal pressure.
When you have a lead that has asked for more information your going to hit them with a new marketing peice every few days, whether it's through email, a letter, a website, a post card, whatever you can.
You still want to push those emotional buttons, and ask for the sale, but you're not going to do it through personal contact.
You apply indirect pressure through marketing which allows them to come to a decision on their own and then voluntarily "push the buy button".
This drip marketing process over time allows the head to catch up with the heart and make a fully committed decision, one that is truly their own, which is so important to building a successful home based business.
Here is a step by step sponsoring process where you will need to believe you are a leader and can not come from a place of neediness.
Bottom line, you have to be willing to let the sale go...
Let me say that again, you must be completely willing to let a sale go.
1. Once the lead is generated a quick introductory phone call is made. The prospect needs to know you are a real person. Ask a few questions, but you're not building up "ammo" like you would if you were planning a guided close.
You are asking questions because you want to find out if this is someone you want in your business. You are trying to determine if he has the qualities to be successful in a home based business. The wrong people will suck you dry of your energy and your assets and cost you much more than they are worth in the long run.
Your prospect will learn to respect you through this qualification process and will recognize your leadership qualities. If this prospect comes on board in your business he knows there will be a certain standard expected of him for him to be successful. He will not be depending on you to do it for him. Only to provide him with tools to build his own success.
See yourself as a leader and others will see you as a leader.
2. If the person fits the criteria of someone you want to work with then give them the address to the business overview via email. Let them know verbally and in the email to contact you when they are done to answer any questions they may have and to get started. Use the opportunity to ask for the sale.
At this point the ball is completely in the prospects court. In the voluntary close you never chase your prospect. You should see your business in a state of abundance and there is no neediness in the midst of abundance.
Continue to give the prospect opportunities to contact you through your marketing. Do not make follow up calls.
Follow-up when the prospect contacts you. If you have positioned yourself correctly, as the expert, they will be excited and feel privileged to have you contact them.
3. Once the prospect contacts you, they will have questions which you will answer in a friendly manner. This prospect is someone you wouldn't mind working with, but let the prospect do the talking and keep the conversation going. Any awkward spots in the conversation are up to the prospect to fill. It's not your responsibility to make the prospect feel comfortable. If they have called for more information it's because they have begun to see the value of your business opportunity. Let them talk themselves into it. Answer their questions and just be quiet.
In any relationship, the person who cares the least holds the power. It's not necessary to chase the prospect, he will join you or not. Don't be attached to the outcome.
And then do you know what happens 9 times out of 10? The prospect fills the awkward silence with statements like, "So what's next? How do I get started?" The prospect had already sold themselves on your business or they wouldn't have contacted you. Leave them alone to finish the process.

Home Based Business Opportunity - Product Choice Effective Recruting
I have always believed and still hold to this premise - that people will choose from the options you give them.
This idea works very well when it comes to taking the order and filling out the distributor application.
Simply asking your prospect how much product they would like to purchase for their initial order is setting yourself and your prospect up for failure.
Give your prospects the options that will set him up for success and only those options. If your company requires a certain amount of volume for money to be made then that volume is what should be the standard and the only acceptable order.
If the prospect asks to make a purchase that won't meet the company requirements explain that a person really can't expect to start a successful business with so little product. If that is what the prospect wants explain that if he wants to be a consumer that is fine but as a business builder he'd only be setting himself up for failure and you couldn't let him do that. If that is what the prospect insists on then let him go as a business builder and set him up as a consumer and move on.
There are several reasons to let the prospect go:
1. He wasn't coachable. If he isn't going to take your advise this early in the game then he never will and his bad decisions will just be a waste of your valuable time.
2. He's not really serious about building a successful business and is therefore not worth your time as a business builder.
3. Leaders lead by example. He will attract others into the business the same way he came in
Not a recipe for success.
Set your team up for success by starting them at the volume the company requires which will give them the product they need to actually sell and promote, or use and sell themselves on.
This will put the whole team on the track to success. Remember, you dictate the terms on how you will build your business. Make sure your prospects only have options for success to choose from and they will choose success or not. You will either have a productive team member to add to the team or you will not, and then you will move on to the next prospect.

Home Based Business Opportunity - More Products or Less, Effect On You
It was few years ago now that I was building a home based business with a popular company that had one single product in their line. This had become a growing trend with the success of Noni and Sea Silver. These two companies had broken sales records for the industry with a single product based line. It was a definitely a phenomenon that caught everyones attention. It started an extended debate among distributors.
Is it better to have just one product, or should you have many to fit all the needs of your potential customers? There were many companies to compare it to like New Vision, or Herbalife, Isagenix, or Melalueca?
For many people, it was only logical dictated to have multiple products to appeal to a wider customer base. But, the numbers said differently, and the afore mentioned company became the third in a row to shatter all sales and growth records, despite their limited product line.
Why has this happened? My point is not to argue for one business model or company over another, but to discover the psychological reasons behind the numbers
What made a consumer purchase more product, more often, when they were presented with a limited choice? Well, I have recently started reading a new book called, YES! 50 Scientifically Proven Ways To Be Persuasive by Robert Cialdini. And guess what was explained on page30
? Yep, the answer to this massive question.
Heres an excerpt from the book that relates to this phenomenon in two different studies
Behavioral scientist Sheena Iyengar and several colleagues analyzed company-sponsored retirement programs for nearly 800,000 workers, looking at how the participation rates varied as a function of how many fund choices the organization offered. Sure enough, the researchers found that the more choices that were offered, the less likely the employees were to enroll in the program at all. For every 10 additional funds the company offered, the participation rate dropped 2%. By comparison, they found that when only two funds were offered, the rate of participation was roughly 75%. But when fifty-nine funds were offered, the participation dropped below 60%.
In a second study, they set up a display at an upscale super market in which passersby could sample a variety of jams that were all made by a single manufacturer. Either 6, or 24 flavors were offered at any given time. The results demonstrated a clear and astonishing difference between the two conditions: Only 3% of those who approached the extensive-choice display actually purchased any jam. Contrast that with the 30% who bought jam when they approached the limited choice display.
Understand, as always, there are exceptions to the rule. There are times when variety plays a positive role, such as Baskin Robins Ice Cream. However, most cases where too many options are offered, indecision is the end result with no decision on the part of the consumer or prospect.

It created PERFECT focus and momentum throughout my business because every single one of my team was dealing with the same product. It can be thought of as a bandwagon effect. All the conference calls, all the tools, all the websites, and all of the trainings were about one single product. The business was not about which products to promote, or which tools to buy. Everyone in the business was on the same page. This laser-like focus produced incredible results. The fragmentation caused by too many choices diluted the effectiveness of the team. This created confusion and doubt for new team members who couldn't help but wonder if theres a better way.
